The scientific name of the saga tree is Adenanthera Pavonina. It belongs to the family Fabaceae (pea family). It is best known for its seeds,which are a symbol of love. Hence its Chinese name is 相思豆 ( xiang si dou ). The pods are very curly and contain many seeds each. The seeds can be strung to make necklaces and also for weighing gold, because no matter what shape, they are all the same weight! The wood is very hard and can be made into boats and furniture.
